The Supreme Court of India had ordered Mohan Babu to remove Padma Sri prefix in his name in his house and films wherever it occurs. The apex court found the actor misusing the Padma Sri and issued the following directive to the actor.
The court felt Mohan Babu's actions in violation of Article 18 (1) of the Constitution and contrary to the Supreme Court’s earlier direction in another case.
The court has ordered Mohan Babu to file an affidavit that he will not misuse the title anywhere and posted the further hearing to April 17th. Also asked him to not to use Padma Shri in any manner till further notice.
It is known that earlier the Andhra Pradesh high court directed the ministry of home affairs to send a recommendation to the President for cancellation of the Padma Shri award given to the actor in 2007. The actor challenged this by approaching the Supreme Court.
